According to Grand View Research, the global beauty pillowcase market was valued at USD 937.1 million in 2023 and is projected to reach approximately USD 1.5 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 6.0%. The report attributes this growth to rising consumer interest in premium bedding materials, including silk and bamboo, which are valued for their smooth texture and hypoallergenic properties.
The same Grand View Research report cites a consumer survey in which 90% of silk pillowcase users reported that their skin felt more hydrated and smoother, while 76% believed silk pillowcases helped reduce visible signs of ageing. These findings reflect users' self-reported experiences rather than clinical outcomes.
Dermatologist Dr. Howard Sobel has also noted that silk's smooth surface creates less friction against the skin than many traditional fabrics, reducing mechanical pulling during sleep. He has additionally explained that silk is generally less absorbent than cotton, allowing it to retain more of the skin's natural moisture and helping skincare products remain on the skin rather than being absorbed by the fabric.
