R. Brannon Claytor, MD, FACS, a board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Claytor Plastic Surgery, has been recognized by Newsweek among America's Best Plastic Surgeons 2026 in two specialty categories: Breast Augmentation and Tummy Tuck. The recognition is based on an independent survey by Statista conducted in cooperation with Newsweek, in which thousands of medical professionals with knowledge of plastic surgery were asked to identify surgeons they consider leaders in specific procedures.

The survey, conducted between April and May 2026, collected more than 10,000 votes for plastic surgeons across the country, evaluated separately for each cosmetic procedure category. Participants also assessed quality-of-care factors—consultation experience, complication rates, follow-up care, and patient outcomes—for surgeons in their own state, and board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery factored into the final scoring.

For Dr. Claytor, the Tummy Tuck recognition centers on a technique he has spent much of his career refining. The Drainless Tummy Tuck is his proprietary approach to abdominoplasty that removes the need for external surgical drains, a standard fixture of traditional tummy tuck recovery. Rather than relying on drains to manage fluid buildup beneath the skin after surgery, the technique uses an internal suturing method to close that space directly—a technique documented in Dr. Claytor's own published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal titled Drainless Lipoabdominoplasty Using Progressive Tension Sutures, Scarpa’s Fascia Preservation, and Minimal Cautery in 350 Consecutive Cases.

The recognition also reflects clinical research and international teaching that extend beyond Dr. Claytor's own operating room. In late 2025, Dr. Claytor published in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal a 200-patient study titled Awake Rejuvenation with the Deep Plane Face Lift and Extended Deep Neck Contouring in which Dr. Claytor demonstrates the exceptional results that can be achieved under tumescent anesthesia rather than general anesthesia. Dr. Claytor serves as chief of plastic Surgery at Main Line Health, a Board Member and Co-Program Director of The Aesthetic Society and as a peer reviewer for The Aesthetic Surgery Journal, and has taught nationally and internationally, including presentations to the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery and at Plastic Surgery The Meeting and ABAM.
