DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) -- Alector (NASDAQ:ALEC) is putting $75 million on the table in a major financing move that could help fuel its next chapter in the race to develop treatments for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other devastating neurological disorders. The South San Francisco biotech priced an underwritten offering of 36.6 million common shares at $2.05 apiece, approximately 7.3% above its October 15 closing price.
The headline number: $75.03 million in expected gross proceeds and the transaction is expected to close around October 19, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
The investor lineup adds intrigue. TCGX, BVF Partners, ADAR1 Capital Management and Deep Track Capital are among the new and existing investors participating in the deal. Morgan Stanley and BTIG are serving as joint lead book-running managers.
The company plans to use the net proceeds for general corporate purposes, potentially including research, development, manufacturing, working capital, capital expenditures and strategic transactions. That flexibility matters in biotechnology, where clinical programs can consume substantial resources long before a successful treatment reaches the market.
Alector’s scientific approach combines genetics, immunology and neuroscience to develop therapies intended to remove toxic proteins, replace missing proteins and restore immune and nerve-cell function. Its pipeline targets diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, while its proprietary Alector Brain Carrier platform is designed to improve therapeutic delivery across the blood-brain barrier, potentially enabling deeper brain penetration and effective treatment at lower doses.
